The splash guard covers the lid perfectly during high-temperature modes. This allows steam to escape safely and protects against splattering during searing, browning and caramelizing stages.
The splash guard is only to be used on a TM6 during the high heat function.
The one thing that lost you stars is that you cannot lift it to have a peek what is going on inside without stopping and opening the whole lid. I guess it is needed for the latest generation of humans who do not have the common sense gene on when and how to do this safely, but frustrating for us older people who were the last born with it.
