    Caring for your cast iron

    Your Firra Casserole Dish is designed to last. Over the years, the internal coating could develop some marks and can take on the colours of what you're cooking. This is perfectly normal and nothing of concern.

    For removing extra stubborn baked-on residues 

    Avoid harsh, abrasive cleaners and scrubbing pads that could damage the enamel coating. A simple three-to-one mix of water and baking soda left in your cast iron overnight and a rinse and wipe with a soft cloth the next day should do the trick. Then, just make sure your dish and lid are thoroughly dried before storing. 

    Care tips and tricks

    • Handwashing recommended – warm soapy water.
    • Thoroughly dry with a tea towel and make sure it’s dry before storing away in the cupboard.
    • Heat up slowly on the stove. Add oils and fats before heating up.
    • Avoiding going from really cold to really hot and vice versa.
    • You may want to run a little bit of oil around the rim where the exposed cast iron is for extra protection.
    • Use silicone or wooden utensils when you’re stirring and serving up to reduce the risk of scratching the enamel.

    Well worth the money!

    I already had the matching Dutch Oven to this Casserole Dish and had been thinking about purchasing the casserole for a while. I'm so glad I finally did, I love cooking in it, its big enough to to cook a one pot meal for the whole family. It can go from the cooktop to the oven, it cleans up so beautifully, and even after several uses it still looks perfect. It takes pride of place on my cooktop, I don't bother putting it away because it gets used so often.

    A great all around pan

    I love this pan so much that I ordered a second one as well as one for my daughter and son-in-law for their wedding anniversary. It is just the right size for a meal for a family of 5. We use this pan ay least twice a week.

    The best

    This cast iron casserole looks beautiful sitting on my stove. But best feature is I'm getting amazing results with every dish - meat so tender.

    I hadn't thought about it before buying but it's also super easy to clean. It's heavy - so I handle carefully.

    Highly recommend.
