The classic tapered wooden French rolling pin is the dough pro’s go-to, but it’s brilliant for beginners too, especially when rolling out circles of pastry, pizza, dumpling and pasta dough. Perfectly smooth, curved and lightweight, they don’t just look elegant, they’re beautifully easy to work with, giving you greater control and manoeuvrability.
Rolling flat and even dough can be challenging, so how is it easier to get a handle on it with a handle-less French rolling pin? It’s simple. Your hands naturally move more to the middle of the tapered wooden rolling pin, and you use the heel of your hand to push the pin. So, rather than grasping at side handles to push and pull, you’re applying direct, controlled pressure to your dough. For rolling circles, simply rotate in an arc with your right hand and keep the left side stationary with your left hand.
We’ve done all the hard work in testing sizes, shapes, weights and woods for the perfect wooden French Rolling Pin too. It had to be lightweight enough to manoeuvre effortlessly, but weighty enough that it does most of the hard work to flatten your dough. Long enough to handle family-sized pie crusts. Slender enough to let you get intimate with the dough and feel the thickness. Smooth enough to resist sticking or absorbing moisture. Easy to clean and perfectly balanced to keep delicate pastry dough free from dips and divots.
Handcrafted from quality beechwood, you’ll love the feel of our French Rolling Pin in your hand, and each one is unique with its own distinctive markings and patterns.
has distinctive markings and patterns, this makes every one of our rolling pins unique.
With a little care, your French Rolling Pin will look beautiful and roll perfectly for many years to come.
Before first use, and every couple of months, we recommended oiling it with an odourless food-safe mineral oil, such as grapeseed, to seal the wood and prevent it from cracking.
Cleaning your wooden rolling pin is easy too. After each use, simply wet a cloth with warm, soapy water, give your pin a scrub and let it stand on its end to allow all sides to dry out completely. Never leave your Thermomix French Rolling Pin to soak in water, or wash it in the dishwasher, as this may cause the wood to crack or warp.
Very easy to use.
It’s quite boujie. Note it doesn’t fit in the drawer. Pieces of wood have been coming off onto the dough the first couple of times using. An improvement would be to have a ruler engraved in the wood to measure dough when rolling out when the recipe describes the size to roll to. I’m still getting used to no handles to get a smooth finish.
Thanks very much for your feedback Caitlin. We really appreciate it as it means we can work on improving our products for the future. We hope you enjoy your French-Style Rolling Pin regardless.
This is really great. I used to have a lot of trouble rolling out pastry and dough to a nice circle. This makes it a lot easier
