Why? I was looking forward to it.

We totally understand your disappointment as we were excited too.

However, due to new legislative restrictions out of our control, Thermomix Friend will not be available for sale in Australia, New Zealand or the USA. This is something which has come to light after Vorwerk’s initial announcement of the Thermomix Friend complementary device, and is due to our specific local laws. Thank you for your understanding.

Seeing I won't be able to get Thermomix Friend from here, can I purchase one from overseas and get it shipped to my Australian/New Zealand address?

We do not recommend that. A Thermomix Friend purchased from overseas will not meet Australian/New Zealand standards, which means it won’t come with any Australian/New Zealand warranty and cannot be serviced in Australian/New Zealand, nor we will not have parts available to assist you.

I held off from purchasing my second Thermomix with the belief that this product would be here, and now have missed out on a great offer. How can you fix this?

Is it safe to use if I get my friend/relative to send me one from overseas? Is that why there are legislative restrictions on importing this?

We do not recommend that Thermomix Friend be purchased from overseas as it will not meet Australian/New Zealand standards. This means it won’t come with any Australian/New Zealand warranty and cannot be serviced in Australian/New Zealand, nor we will have parts available to assist you.

Why can other countries have Thermomix Friend and we can't?

This is simply due to new local legislative regulations around the sale of all-in-one kitchen appliances. Our laws in Australia, New Zealand and also in the USA are different to those in Europe and some other parts of the world.
 
In Europe, Thermomix Friend is categorised differently to the TM5 and TM6, as a complementary product and therefore meets European requirements. Under Australian and New Zealand legislation, Thermomix Friend is categorised the same as the TM5 and TM6 and, because it was designed to be a complementary product, it does not meet some of the requirements for approval. The TM5 and TM6 are fully compliant to local legislation.
